Computer Software – Software | Merofuture

Software is group of program consists specific instructions codes. It cannot be touch and feel by the user. It is three types of software.

  • System software
  • Application software
  • UT software/ Utility Software

System Software

Which helps to run the computer to run different computer hardware. Windows XP, Windows 7, 8, 10.

Application Software

Application software are depended. A group of program which enable user to specific task such as creating document, playing game etc. e.g. Notepad, Ms-word, adobe photoshop.

UT/ Utility Software

It is the software which are developed to protect and prevent computer from virus. Software developed to protect and prevent are maximize the utility of computation. E.g. CD burn, Antivirus, Dispartition, Windows defender.

Difference between Hardware and Software

Basic of Difference Software Hardware
Definition It is a group of programme consisting specific instructions and codes. Hardware is the physical part of the computer.
Nature We cannot touch of feel it. We can tough or feel it.
Example Application software, Ms-word, Excel, Games, system software, OS, Utility Software, Antivirus, Disk Management etc. RAM, Monitor, Motherboard, Keyboard, Mouse, Speaker etc.

Stands for Random Access Memory. RAM is a type of high speed computer memory where operating system, application software, files that are currently being used are started temporarily files that are stored in RAM are temporary and voltage. First 640kb or RAM is used for running OS.

  • SIMM (Single Inline Memory Module)

SIMM have only single line of connectors. SIMM are not in use nowadays. SIMM are at 72 pins which supports 32 bit data rate and 30 pin which supports 16 bit transfer rate.

  • DIMM (Dual Inline Memory Module)

DIMM has double/ two lines of connectors. DIMM are commonly used nowadays. DIMM are of 168 pins, 184 pins, 240 pins.

  • DRAM (Dynamic RAM)

DRAM looses it information even when power supply is on. DRAM needs to be refreshed time to time DRAM are cheaper.

SRAM (Static RAM)

SRAM stores information as long as power supply is an SRAM are costlier consumer more power. SRAM are faster than DRAM.

  • SDRAM (Synchronous Dynamic RAM)

SDRAM are commonly used nowadays in Pentium motherboards. SDRAM is a type of DRAM there are three types of SDRAM.

  • SODIMM – Laptops
  • RDRAM – Used only in one kind of Pentium motherboard.
  • DDR – Commonly used nowadays (Double data rate)

DDR1 – 184 pins – 2.5 voltage

DDR2 – 240 pins – 1.8 voltage

DDR3 – 240 pins – 1.5 voltage

Central Processing Unit (CPU)

CPU or microprocessor is the brain of the Computer. All the raw data that the user gives through the input device are processed in the CPU. CPU has three parts.

  1. ALU (Arithmetic and Logic Unit)

Mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division etc. and logical operation such as greater that less than equal to ptc are carried out by this part.

  1. CU (Control Unit)

The control unit controls the data and out from CPU and memory. The control unit controls all the operations inside CPU.

  • RU (Register Unit)

Registers are temporary high-speed memory which holds data and instructions temporarily during processing.
